The subject of child abuse is abhorrent and disturbing. It seems impossible to tackle, and our instinct is to look away - predators count on us to look away!

It's how child abuse thrives.

Hundreds of people knew about these allegations and chose to do nothing. We're inviting you to join us as we change this culture. Not just to demand accountability and justice for the survivors of these New Hanover County scandals - but to end child abuse in ALL schools. Open Secret will be the conversation starter.

But we are asking our community to lean into courage. The courage to respond to our internal moral compass and values, even though they sometimes frighten us. Every time we lean in, do the right thing, our confidence grows. As our confidence grows, so does our courage! Together we can rise up and combat the perpetrators and their enablers by not looking away.

How does a culture devolve to such a degree it protects predators over children? Allows for systemic discrimination and child sexual assaults to permeate its school district-for generations? We explore this and many other topics in our film.

A handful of courageous residents united to challenge the corruption that had allowed child predators to permeate its school district. The determination of these residents was inspirational. Their collective efforts delivered stunning results.

Meet Our Producer/Director/Writer, Kerry David who was recently interviewed by Devin Thorpe at Superpowers4Good and discusses Open Secret.

Together, we're a small team of dedicated filmmakers invited to document a handful of courageous residents as they unite to confront the abuse of power in their county. What they achieved will shock you ....and inspire you.

Kerry David: The 3 questions I'm asked most about my commitment to Open Secret are, "Why have you dedicated 5 years of your life to this film? What is it about this subject and these people?"

The short, simple answer is; I'm AGAINST corruption and collusion, and I'm FOR courage and community. I also love a David and Goliath/against all odds story - all of which sums up our film, Open Secret, perfectly. I also believe wholeheartedly in these advocates who dared greatly and were ultimately triumphant in their goals. Their story deserves to be witnessed."

Open Secret will be screened to audiences across America followed by town-hall meetings with community members to discuss this national crisis and all the ways we can end it.
