"Rick Doblin is a once-in-a-generation historical figure. When I heard WHAT A TRIP had been documenting his journey, I knew I wanted to support it. The film is intimate, urgent, and strangely mythic. I'm proud to be part of bringing his story to the screen."
— Darren Aronofsky, Executive Producer, What A Trip

SYNOPSIS
WHAT A TRIP follows Rick Doblin, the colorful founder of MAPS, on his 50+ year quest to legalize psychedelics. Starting with a xeroxed newsletter in 1986, Rick builds MAPS into a non-profit that, against-all-odds raises over $200 million for groundbreaking psychedelic research; navigating FDA trials, cultural stigma, and capitalism to help transform psychedelic science from a fringe counterculture crusade into a bipartisan, mainstream movement. Filmmaker Nirvan Mullick intimately documents Rick's journey for over a decade, despite never having tried psychedelics himself. But just as Rick's dream of legalizing MDMA therapy seems within reach... everything starts to fall apart.
WHAT A TRIP is an unflinching look at what it takes to change not just our minds, but also our culture.
