Il Moro-The Moor tells the story of Alessandro de’ Medici, the first Duke of Florence and the first man of African descent to become a head of state in Renaissance Europe.

However Il Moro isn't just a short film; it's a significant step towards shedding light on the often overlooked history of Afro-Europeans, with a specific focus on Afro-Italians. This powerful narrative has not only captured the hearts of audiences but has also opened a conversation about representation, equality, and the importance of telling stories that have long been silenced. We won the Oscar Qualifying Reel Sister Film Festival, which put us into the "For Your Consideration Live Action Short Film" category for 2024: we invite you to join us in celebrating the impactful role that Il Moro plays in changing the narrative.

Our Mission

Il Moro però non è solo un cortometraggio; è un passo significativo verso fare luce sulla storia, spesso ignorata, degli Afro-Europei, con un focus specifico sugli Afro-Italiani. Questa forte storia non solo ha catturato il cuore del pubblico, ma ha anche aperto una conversazione sulla rappresentazione, l’uguaglianza e l’importanza di raccontare storie che sono state a lungo nascoste. Oltre a puntare agli Oscar, la nostra missione è usare Il Moro come veicolo di cambiamento. Vogliamo creare un effetto a catena che ispiri diverse comunità e parli all’umanità condivisa di tutti noi.
