IN TWENTY YEARS, 70-80% OF THE WORLD WILL LIVE IN CITIES.

Imagine our world in 2050, where seven out of ten people reside in cities. Then, the world's population is projected to be around 9.7 billion. That means an astonishing 6.6 billion people will be living in cities. The relentless urban migration is up from 55% since 2018, which means the brunt of climate change will be experienced in metropolises.

Now, there have been best selling books on how cities have taken control of climate crisis: such as “Climate of Hope, How Cities, Businesses, and Citizens Can Save the Planet” and “Solved: How the World’s Great Cities Are Fixing the Climate Crisis”. They have chronicled the stories of progressive cities, big and small, around the world: Los Angeles, Amsterdam, New York, Toronto, Oslo, Shenzhen, and Sydney, and small towns such as Georgetown, Texas.

However, since Climate of Hope was written in 2017 and since then AI, technology and even more city initiatives are taking action and making an incredible difference in reducing global emissions and implementing sustainable solution

BUT WIDE AUDIENCES DON’T KNOW THIS. AND THEY DON'T WE CAN MITIGATE 80% OF GREENHOUSE GASES.

THE FUTURE IS BETTER THAN YOU THINK.

There’s no question, that rapid climate change is destabilizing our world and causing cataclysm after cataclysm. Hot places are getting hotter. Wet places wetter. And the risk and strength of extreme weather is everywhere. It seems grim and hopeless as if our emissions will not fall quickly enough to avoid runaway world apocalypse and the existential threat of the end of human civilization.

Yes, it’s urgent and scary. We may soon hit tipping points that will lead to the collapse of ecosystems and our civilization while scientists activists and much of the younger generation urge action it appears most politicians are not committed to doing anything meaningful.

And while the fossil fuel industry and some politicians still work actively against change it seems humanity can't overcome its greed and obsession with short-term profit and personal gain to save itself.

Small wonder that 70% of young people feel particularly anxious and depressed instead of looking ahead to a lifetime of opportunity. They wonder if they will even have a future or if they should bring kids into this world.

But the Future is Better Than We Think.

WHY INVEST IN THIS FILM?

WHY PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW CITIES ARE LEADING THE WAY!

The positive efforts of cities and communities and groundbreaking science are accumulating. There is very good news as today we can mitigate 80% of our greenhouse gases and there’s a real path towards our collective climate goals.

Now as of 2022, the global average temperature has risen 1.2 degrees celsius compared to pre-industrial times (limiting warming to 1.5 degrees was the most ambitious goal of the Paris agreement) but we are not likely to meet it. The good news is it won’t be the 4 degrees in 2100 that was once predicted.

This is where cities are making a huge difference. Since 70-80% of the world will be living in cities and they account for 3/4 of emissions. If we fix cities, we fix a big part of the problem and that’s what happening.

We still have a lot of work to do to help cities in developing countries. If we don’t help, then they might be unable to feed their populations as heat waves, hurricanes, fires, droughts and famines further increase damage poor regions.

But a lot about Climate Change has to do with awareness and public communication. We know have the technology and have already seen enough progress in cities that most scientists now think that we can avoid apocalyptic climate change.

Which is why, we need get this new hopefully message out there and not let current climate policies stagnate, we need to let the world know there is a comprehensive plan. And the cities and communities are the answer to antidote to negative narratives of doom and gloom of the end of civilization. And to giving up.

Help us a new picture of green technology, human ingenuity, optimism and hope.

WE CAN SAVE THE PLANET – NOW!

CLIMATE OF HOPE showcases a dual perspective that highlights the interconnectedness of global cutting-edge technology, and local climate actions.

We are all intricately interconnected to our Earth – from the trees that provide us with oxygen, to the natural sources that shape our landscape to the building we live and work in. For instance, few people know we can now detail climate change down to the city block. We can see what pollutants (up to 25) that impact us and monitor our planet's dynamic change.

Here's just one example: the ESA's Earth observation program that tracks climate patterns to assessing environmental health, it is a game changer for mitigating climate change impact. But this is just one example of how technology is changing the narrative to hope and optimism.

EACH EPISODE TAKES ON AN EMPOWERING PERSONAL JOURNEY OF HOW CITIES ARE SAVING THE WORLD.

CELEBRITY INVOLVEMENT

We also see some young celebrity involvement either on screen or as a narrator, such as actress Shailene Woodley who is widely recognized for her social and environmental contributions. Woodley has partnered with the largest environment NGO and served as Green Peace Ocean Ambassador.
