Help me to raise awareness about the dangers of hazing!
Let's make a video together.
Kathleen Sheridan wants teenagers and their parents to be aware of the dangers of hazing. She believes an effective way to do this is by producing a short narrative video. Kathleen has done this before when she made a male cancer awareness video. At that time, Kathleen’s son gave her advice.
“Whatever you do, don’t make it long and dull with some old guy babbling. You need to get someone famous who kids can relate to, and then tell a story, preferably with humor. That’s how you’ll get your message across to teenagers.”
Katheen’s son’s advice worked. So, this antihazing video will have a similar format with an introduction by a recognizable celebrity, followed by a short story of an eager freshman who leaves home and joins a student organization, with tragic consequences. By showing one student’s experience, teenagers will see that hazing can happen to anyone and hazing has consequences.
The video will be distributed free of charge to the antihazing nonprofits who share Kathleen’s vision of raising awareness about hazing, providing training and resources to schools and universities, and encouraging state and federal antihazing legislation.
