When disaster strikes, communities rush to meet immediate needs—housing, food, clothing, safety.

But after the initial crisis passes, another kind of loss often goes unaddressed: the loss of identity, purpose, opportunity, and creative momentum.

Ashes to Films exists for that moment.

Founded by filmmaker and fire survivor Shiloh Strong, Ashes to Films supports filmmakers and creative workers whose lives and livelihoods have been disrupted by wildfires and other disasters. We focus on creative recovery - helping artists return to their work, rebuild confidence and inspiration, and create meaningful projects when they are ready.

Through direct grants, mentorship, industry partnerships, and the Ashes to Films Festival, we provide filmmakers with:

• Funding to complete short films and creative projects
• Access to professional mentorship, equipment, and resources
• A supportive community of peers who understand recovery through creativity
• A public platform to showcase their work and share their journey

These films are united by themes of resilience, perseverance, and the courage to keep creating.
