The mountains inspire us. But they are also hurting. Join us on an unprecedented journey to the world’s third-highest peak, uniting climbers, creatives, and local communities to confront a growing pollution crisis and instill a global commitment to environmental stewardship – even in the most challenging endeavors.

Every climbing season, tons of waste are left behind in the Himalayas – threatening fragile ecosystems, impacting local communities, and eroding the cultural and spiritual heritage of these sacred places. Local cleanup efforts are underway, but don’t have the publicity and impact they deserve. Meanwhile, the international climbing community is failing to take accountability.

Clean Mountain Project is driven to address this shared problem. In spring 2026, our team of local and international climbers will clean up Kangchenjunga in Nepal – known as “The Forgotten Mountain” – to:

  • Show that the pursuit of great challenges can be balanced with protecting our environment, setting a new standard for high-altitude expeditions
  • Promote sustainable climbing and tourism to a global audience, telling our story through social media outreach, film-making, and public engagement
  • Build lasting solutions for mountain waste management, working hand-in-hand with local communities and officials

This mountain pollution crisis exemplifies how socio-economic inequalities—here between international tourists and the Himalayan population – impact communities and ecosystems. With your help we can change this imbalance, supporting local people in restoring and protecting their mountains.

Ultimately, our goal is to empower everyone to care for our shared environment – both in the mountains and beyond. By demonstrating commitment to sustainability in one of the world’s most demanding environments, we hope to inspire others to take meaningful action in their own communities and daily lives, placing long-term care above short-term gains.

We invite you to join us on our journey as we celebrate the natural beauty and sacred legacy of Nepal’s mountains, spark a cultural shift to adopt more responsible practices, and support local communities preparing for the future of Himalayan tourism.

Why give?
Because the responsibility for these mountains – and for our planet’s health – belongs to all of us. Together, we can show the climbing world a new model of accountability, conservation, and respect for nature.

Your support will directly impact the communities and lives we hope to touch with our campaign.

Thank you for being part of the Clean Mountain movement!
