Untitled NPR Documentary is both urgent and relevant in today’s fractured media landscape. Trust in legacy outlets is at historic lows, partisan voices dominate, and journalism faces financial and political strain. With recently announced federal cuts threatening NPR’s future, the stakes for public media have never been higher.

This film revisits NPR’s founding era, when four pioneering women built a network defined by depth, nuance, and independence, at a moment that mirrors our own. By weaving their stories with NPR’s current crossroads, the documentary highlights enduring questions: How do we protect truth in an age of disinformation? Where is the line between activism and reporting? Can journalism remain both impactful and impartial?

By spotlighting these trailblazing women and the institution they shaped, the project underscores the urgent need for balanced, trustworthy media and its role in sustaining American democracy.
