Her Second Act's Fundraiser
Help us capture the extraordinary stories of women redefining their Second Act.
We got inspired to film HER SECOND ACT because we kept hearing the same story from women — friends, colleagues, strangers — stories that weren't making it to screens, let alone into the hands of women who need them the most. Women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s describing the most transformative, creative, and powerful periods of their lives, only to look around and see themselves erased from the cultural conversation. Told they were "aging out." Told their most interesting chapters were behind them.
But what we're planning to capture on film is the opposite. We're documenting women who are leaving marriages that no longer serve them. Starting businesses after decades in corporate jobs. Finally saying what they really feel. Finally choosing themselves. Pursuing passions they'd put on hold for everyone else. These women aren't fading—they're igniting. And their stories deserve the same cinematic treatment, the same cultural attention, the same investment as any coming-of-age story about a 20-something finding themselves.
Right now, we're in pre-production gathering extraordinary women whose journeys will move, inspire, and fundamentally shift how we see midlife. So far, some of our talent includes: Laura Benanti, Margaret Cho, Carla Hall, Ricki Lake, Padma Lakshmi, Stacy London, Paulina Poriskova, and Amy Schumer. There will be many more women's stories that we will capture from around the world, but we can't do it without your support. Besides traveling to interview women for their stories, we'll need to create a powerful edit, and bring this documentary to festivals, distributors, and ultimately to the millions of women who need to see themselves reflected on screen. This is more than a film—it's validation, inspiration, and proof that the second act can be just as empowering, if not more, than the first. We are so appreciative for any level of support.
