For My Brothers Back Home is an initiative that uses short documentary film as a means of fundraising and bringing awareness to the lack of resources available to Eastern Cape youth. Our documentary features Sethu, a young and passionate South African soccer player, whose journey began with scraps of trash rolled tightly into a makeshift soccer ball in his home village of Hlabathi. Despite being limited by a lack of proper sports equipment, his drive, his passion, and the generous support of his family, friends and sponsor opened doors he once never thought possible. Now, he plays semi-professional soccer in Madrid, Spain, allowing him to financially support his family and his brothers back home. Our film follows Maya and Keiara on their journey through his home region, living with the locals, playing soccer alongside these kids, and learning just what it takes to survive in such difficult circumstances.
