Strip! Strike! Unite!'s Fundraiser
To date we have raised over $25K in grants and philanthropic donations. We are now hoping to raise an additional $100K in grants which will help us get to a rough cut of the film.
Strippers at North Hollywood’s Star Garden Topless Dive Bar love their work—but the job comes with risk: violence, wage theft, and a management culture that treats them as disposable. When two dancers are punished for speaking up, their coworkers walk out—launching a strike that forces a hidden workplace into public view. In ten-inch heels and glitter, they take their demands into the street, turning a stigmatized job into a national labor story. But the real battle isn’t just with the owners. It’s with a system built to control them. Management weaponizes stigma to isolate and discredit them, while a broader culture reinforces the same message: they don’t deserve rights. The dancers refuse that logic. They insist that harassment is harassment, retaliation is retaliation, and labor is labor—no matter who is doing it.
As the fight escalates, even victory fractures. Retaliation intensifies. The system recalibrates. What emerges is not a clean win, but a blueprint—already spreading far beyond this club. Set against a national rollback of women’s autonomy and the return of misogyny as both policy and culture, these dancers move in the opposite direction: more visible, more organized, more collective. Strip, Strike, Unite! is a story about dignity without permission—about how solidarity turns stigma into power, and exposes what power does when it’s threatened.
