1991. Stockholm, Sweden. 25-year-old Ophelia Haanyama — educated, sophisticated, ambitious — arrives from Zambia ready to build her future. A routine doctor’s visit changes everything: she is HIV positive. In 1991, this is a death sentence.

What follows is four decades of survival, secrecy, love, loss, and ultimately — courage. Ophelia transforms from a woman hiding her status into a global force: speaking before international parliaments, at New York’s Museum of Natural History with Bill Clinton and Richard Branson — and carrying the stories of mothers, fathers, and communities around the world who had no one else to speak for them.

This narrative feature film is based on Ophelia's true story along with the scientists who bravely struggled for years and eventually discovered the 3-drug cocktail that saved Ophelia and millions of others lives. It concludes in 2025 with all of the HIV Prevention systems she helped create collapsing around her when funding is abruptly cut. And Ophelia soldiers on.
