Project Destiny of I Am
Project Destiny of I Am grew from my book, The Destiny of I AM - The Crossing, which is my own story of healing and transformation. Writing the book gave me a way to express my experiences honestly, understand my journey, and transform what I had lived through into something meaningful. By telling my story, I discovered how powerful creative expression can be not just for the person creating, but also for others who may recognize parts of themselves in that story.
What began as my personal creative journey gradually became a larger vision. I founded Project Destiny of I Am in 2019 to give back to others by creating opportunities for art, storytelling, reflection, and connection. The words “I AM” are at the heart of the project because they represent an evolution of identity, possibility, and the freedom to define our own stories.
Equity and inclusion are central to PDOIA’s vision. We want to highlight diverse artists, perspectives, cultures, and lived experiences while creating opportunities for people who may not always feel represented or welcomed in traditional arts spaces. Our programs will include healing arts experiences, performances, creative workshops, storytelling, and meaningful conversations developed with artists and community partners. Through these experiences, PDOIA will encourage creativity, connection, reflection, and social change.
Accessibility is also central to what we are building. PDOIA’s website, social platform, and future app will make it easier for people to discover artists, creative organizations, community resources, and opportunities to participate. The platform will feature artists and their work, share their stories, showcase collaborating organizations, and connect people with workshops, events, and other creative experiences. Our goal is to reduce barriers and create an inclusive digital space where art, information, and community connections are easier to find.
PDOIA is now taking the next steps toward bringing this vision to life. We are developing our digital platform, forming relationships with artists and community organizations, and planning our first arts experiences in Chicago.
