As an independent filmmaker and a grandmother, I connect deeply to both sides of Let’s Do Crime. I understand firsthand the hustle, resourcefulness, and determination it takes to find the money and support needed to get a film made, and I also understand the fierce desire to help someone you love pursue a dream.
That personal connection inspired a comedy in which a grandmother takes “creative financing” way too literally. Beyond the laughs, I wanted to create meaningful lead roles for older women who are impulsive, complicated, funny, and central to the action, not simply supporting characters in someone else’s story. At its heart, Let’s Do Crime is my celebration of intergenerational love, creative ambition, and the lengths we sometimes want to go to help the people we love.
